April 17th and before

The weather is crazy in San Antonio.  If it says it is going to be 80 degrees in Utah then it is usually sunny and bright.  Today it was supposed to be 80 in San Antonio but it was cloudy and drizzling rain all day.

Nathan reading to Maggie at the house
Today I was able to talk to some of the people that help Nathan find ways to get help.  I am gradually learning all of the things that he is involved in so I can help him.  He got his VA disability determination papers in the mail a couple of days ago and so he has been busy getting me to help him with some of the paperwork that he needs to do.  I have also helped him with paperwork for the divorce so we have been busy this week.  I was impressed today because he went to the business center here at the apartment today by himself and printed out the papers he needed to apply for a school loan waiver because of his disability.  We filled them out tonight and they are ready to go.  He is really very adept at working with the computer and Ipad and his phone.  He has also been very helpful in helping to navigate through San Antonio.

I love the expressing of love on his face in this picture
We were supposed to have lunch with some Senior Missionaries that have taken Nathan under their wing because they are military relations for the church at Fort Sam but she got sick today so we will meet with them tomorrow.

Larry had several problems with the cars that he had to deal with today.  He had to drive to an Enterprise dealer that was about 20 minutes away to sign some papers because they would not take the credit card over the phone.  He has to meet with the AP's tomorrow to go over the spread sheets.  With his job he gets about 4 phone calls an hour about something to do with the 97 cars that they have in the mission.

One more of reading...looking down to read the words
Work at the mission has become comfortable for me.  There is something new I have to learn each day but there are a lot of things that I am comfortable with.  Today I learned that the full time missionaries cannot go into the jails and prisons but there is a mission for Seniors in Salt Lake that sends out materials like Books of Mormons and writes letters to people in prison and jail.  It is okay for the ward and stake missionaries to go into the prisons but not the full time missionaries.

I think it is interesting that they get the day off of school for Good Friday here.  I guess every place has their important days off that are different from other areas.

Yesterday I took the morning and helped Nathan with some papers for the divorce and went to the bank and changed his address and had a paper noterized for the divorce lawyer and went to the post office and put in change of address for Warm Springs and for his home temporarily.  We also went to Warm Springs and talked to them about forwarding the mail that comes.  I had to go back to the office in the afternoon.

Larry finally got so sick with the cough and congestion he had that he went to the VA as soon as we woke up yesterday at 6:00 am and he was there until about 1:00 pm seeing a doctor and getting his prescriptions transferred to the VA here.  They said that he had bronchitis and gave him an antibiotic and some medicines for the congestion and cough.  He said that he is not completely better but then I remember when I felt that way so I have faith that he will get better.

We worked the afternoon at the mission office and then we went to HEB, a Texas grocery chain that is everywhere here and a pretty good store, to get groceries for a while after dinner.  It was late when we got to bed and we were all too tired.

Tuesday was a pretty normal day at the mission office.  Nathan wanted to go out and read to the kids that evening and surprise them.  Maggie really enjoyed having him read to her and was dancing around very happy.  Sara was not so happy and Nathan got upset.  I realized that it would be better if he was not around her much because he gets really upset with her when she is around, which is understandable.

I received my new phone yesterday in the mail but did not have time to go get it switched over today.  Maybe tomorrow.
