October 21st

Today I got up early and went with Kirsten to take Taylor to school and to donate Plasma.  I was hoping to be able to donate plasma but after going through several tests they determined that I could not donate because I take Tramadol on a regular basis.  If I had been taking it on an intermittent schedule then I could donate but not when I take it every day.  We left about 8:30 a.m. and finally got home about 11:00 a.m. so it was not a short time that I was there.

Larry stayed home and slept in because of his neuropathy that has been bothering him.  He wanted to donate also but because he is a diabetic that takes insulin they would not even let him schedule an appointment.

When we got home Kirsten went to pick up Taylor at school and Larry and I left to go to Moms to help her with her laundry.

When we got to Mom’s she was waiting for her cleaning person to come at 1:00 p.m.  We talked for a while and then we went down to put some clothes in the dryer.  When we got them in the dryer the would not start.  It would not turn on so we thought that it might be a circuit breaker but when we tried the breakers none of them turned on the dryer.  We looked around the dryer and all the plugs were plugged in and it all seemed to be okay.  Mom said that she had used the dryer yesterday and there was no problem so we suggested that she call the company that had been there in the morning finishing up on the fixing of the basement after she had a flood.  But she decided to call Keith to see if he knew what she could do.  He told her which breakers it was but they did not do everything.  Then her cleaning lady came  and looked also.  Larry took a picture of the list of which circuit breakers went to which because it was upside down and not very legible but that did not work either.  Finally we asked her to call the company again.  She found the number and called and told them what was wrong.  The said that they would send someone out as soon as possible.

Mom was sure that they would not have anyone there for a while so she suggested that we go and get lunch.  Larry had suggested Culver’s so we went there.  I spent a lot of time trying to find out what foods I could eat there on my Weight Watcher’s app.  I found something that sounded good but of course that Culver’s did not carry that menu item.  That is a common problem with the app.  But I quickly ordered something that I thought was okay and even was able to not be tempted by the ice cream.

While we were talking I got interested in finding the website for Pseudo Bulbar Affect that Nathan says he has.  They have had several ads lately on television on the website and I wanted to learn more about it.  Nathan has said that he had it but I didn’t think it was true because his VA Doctor Bair said that he didn’t think that he had it but it is evident that he has a lot of the symtons and that we ought to learn more about it.

I was also reading my emails and got a copy of an email that Studevants sent to Nathan about PTSD Syndrome because he had said that he felt like he had that at times.  I was surprised to learn that it doesn’t just apply to war but to other traumatic experiences also.  So that was interesting.

When we got back the man was there to fix the dryer problem.  The housekeeper had let him in.  He tried all the things that we had already tried.  Then Mom showed him that they had been working on the other wall and that there was a plug there.  When he went to test the plugs he found that the person who had worked on that plug had not finished the job and so it was shorting out the other plug that was connected even though they were on opposite walls.  He worked on that and got it fixed and wallah  the dryer worked!!!

While we were all worrying about that Larry called Judy and John to see how they are.  They were happy to report that John was able to get a new chemotherapy treatment that might work in destroying his cancer.

We dried the sheets that had washed while we were at Culver’s and then made the bed for Mom.  Then we had to go home as my visiting teachers were coming at 6:00 p.m.  and it was about 4:30 p.m.

When we got home we ate some dinner and then my visiting teachers came.  They brought me a bag of candy!!! Not what I needed on Weight Watchers but the thought was good.  We talked for about an hour and then they left.  We had a good talk but I was disappointed that they did not give the lesson.
Larry and I then watched two episodes of Bones season 10 and relaxed.  Then he did the dishes while I folded laundry.

After that we went to read and Taylor and Kirsten came home about that time.  Taylors friend Taysha had her birthday party today and so they had been to that all evening.  The party was at a place called Kangaroo Zoo, which is a jump place.

Everyone was making a big deal today about the fact that it was the date that the movie “Back to the Future” was supposed to be in when they time traveled forward.  It was interesting that things didn’t turn out as planned in the movie, we have no hoverboards, but we have some pretty amazing inventions that they did not predict, like cell phones and computers and other electronic devices.
