Larry and I were so tired today that we could not get up at
7:30 a.m. We laid in bed for another
hour. Then we heard Kirsten and Taylor
in the kitchen and decided to get up.
They ate breakfast quickly as Taylor has to be at school at 8:50 a.m. so
they were off quite soon after we got up.
We ate breakfast and went in to read scriptures and say our prayers but
we also added some time to read Facebook before we got in the showers and got
dressed. It was 11:00 a.m. before we
were up and functioning.
Kirsten went to her old apartment to clean while Taylor was
in school and then she came home after getting Taylor and they were fixing
lunch.
We decided that we needed to go and the food ordered for
Sunday and so I worked on that while Larry was doing something in the
garage. About the time we finished that
then Kirsten came home.
We hired some people to clean up the flower beds that looked
awful when we got home and so they were here all day today working on them so
that they will look better for Sunday. I
am grateful for Mr. G that he would come right away.
Larry decided he wanted to go to Wendy’s for lunch so we
went there to lunch and then we went to Wal-Mart to order the meat and cheese
trays and rolls. We also had some
grocery items to purchase that we needed.
We walked around Wal-Mart long enough that we should have had our activity
points and we found everything except the Big Sexy Hairspray that I use.
We drove to Fresh Market to order a big cookie tray and then
I was able to get the hairspray there that I needed.
We took all of the things home and unpacked them. I don’t know what we are going to do for
space for the food on Saturday in the refrigerator. At times like this I wish it was cold in the
garage.
Kirsten had Kara and her girls here for a while to play with
Taylor. They sure are cute girls. They seemed to play together really well but
about every five minutes they ran up the stairs so Taylor could show them
something.
I read some things for my talk for about an hour after that
on my phone. I went in to try to get
them in a word document on the computer
but the internet was not working for some
reason and I was going to go down and ask Kirsten about it as she moved the
modem downstairs so she could plug into it for her work. But it was almost time for me to meet with
the missionaries to visit my friend Kelly Jenkins so I dressed in my missionary
clothes and read some of my mom’s biography that my Sister Kathy wrote and then
went to Kelly’s home.
The missionaries are reading the Book of Mormon with
Kelly. We spent most of the time reading
2 Nephi 2 and talking about it. It has
some great scriptures on the importance of agency. We did not read the entire chapter but they
challenged Kelly to finish it and then read another part of 2 Nephi. It was a good discussion of the chapter but I
wondered if Kelly understood it all. She
said that the thing that impressed her most was the fact that she could repent
of her sins through the atonement of Christ.
Kirsten fixed dinner for us tonight. She put a chicken casserole in the crock
pot. It smelled good all day but she was
not home when I got home. She had gone
to pick up Brooke at school where she had just taken her driver’s
test. Apparently Brooke has a
babysitting job on Thursdays and she needed some help to take the kids while
she drove so Kirsten helped her out.
Brooke was here until the Mother of the two children came to pick them
all up.
Kirsten said that the internet accidentally got unplugged by
the kids downstairs so I was able to work on my talk tonight and also write out
this blog entry after she plugged it back in.
I found lots of information about the topic which is Matthew
13:44-46. I put it on a word document
but was confused about how to relate it to my mission but after praying about
it and asking for help I got an idea about how to incorporate the idea with the
experiences of my mission. I love
prayer.
